The mid face or cheek area descends and becomes deflated over time. This can lead to a gaunt look, deep nasal-labial folds and accentuates baggy lower eyelids.
Procedure
The midface can either be lifted by means of surgery or the lost volume can be replaced. Surgery is done with an excision in the upper gum and hairline area. The cheek is then elevated to create a full, youthful appearance. Volume replacement can be combined with surgery and can be accomplished with filler or fat injections (fat grafting).
Anaesthetic
Surgery is done in our procedure room under conscious sedation or in theatre as a day case under general anaesthetic.
Volume replacement is done under local anaesthetic with conscious sedation in our procedure room.
Recovery
Surgery: 80% recovery in 14 days
Volume replacement: 5-7 days
Risks
Surgery: Swelling can be prolonged.
Fat grafting : Fat graft survival is not always predictable and fillers usually last between 18-24 months.
