Passionate about making a difference, Dr van der Walt is deeply involved with the Smile Foundation, performing numerous surgeries on children to correct facial and other deformities every year. As a member of the College of Plastic Surgeons Education Committee, he plays a vital role in training and examining the next generation of plastic surgeons. Education & Training
Born and raised in Johannesburg, Dr van der Walt began his medical journey at Stellenbosch University, where he earned his MBChB degree. After completing his internship and community service his next step was the United Kingdom, where he began his plastic surgery career before returning to South Africa to complete his specialisation. Dr van der Walt achieved his M. Med with distinction (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch. He is a Fellow of the College of Plastic Surgeons of South Africa (FC Plastic Surgery (SA)) and a full member of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of South Africa.

She is professional, organised and nothing is ever too much trouble for her.
She keeps the team together and everything running smoothly.

Sister Susan is our very capable nursing
sister who we could not do without.
She assists Dr van der Walt in theatre helps with medical aid authorisations, wound checks, and dressings.
She’s always just a phone call away for any questions about your procedure or follow-up care.
