Eyelid Surgery

Overview

Non-cosmetic eyelid surgery, or functional blepharoplasty, addresses medical issues that affect eye function, like vision obstruction or irritation caused by droopy or sagging eyelids. It’s different from cosmetic blepharoplasty, which focuses on improving appearance.

Functional blepharoplasty corrects issues like ectropion (eyelid turning outwards) or entropion (eyelid turning inwards),
and can also address vision issues caused by drooping eyelids.

Medical Issues Addressed:

Eyelid Obstruction

Droopy eyelids (ptosis) can block vision, making it difficult to see clearly.

Ectropion

This condition causes the eyelid to turn outwards, leading to dryness, irritation, and potential corneal damage.

Entropion

This condition causes the eyelid to turn inwards, causing the eyelashes to rub against the eye and cornea, resulting in irritation and pain.

Forehead pain and strain: Sagging eyelids can force individuals to strain their forehead muscles to raise their eyelids, causing pain and fatigue.

Eyelid Irritation

Droopy eyelids rubbing against each other can cause irritation and discomfort.
