Goals of Functional Blepharoplasty:

Goals of Functional Blepharoplasty:

Plastic Surgery is evolving all the time. It allows us to take all aesthetic variables into consideration. An accurate treatment plan can then be formulated based on non-surgical and surgical procedures to best suit your needs. Different procedures are now often combined to produce multiple subtle changes and thereby producing a more natural result.

It is therefore important that both you and your surgeon understand your needs and expectations. Please contact us if you need any additional information.

Improved Vision:

By correcting eyelid drooping or turning, functional blepharoplasty can improve overall vision, including peripheral vision.

Reduced Eye Irritation:

Addressing conditions like ectropion and entropion can minimize irritation and discomfort.

Pain Relief:

By reducing the strain on forehead muscles, functional blepharoplasty can alleviate forehead pain and fatigue.

Medical aids do sometimes cover the cost of a functional blepharoplasty but one needs to have a field of vision test and Dr Van der Walt will need to send a motivation to your medical aid after an initial consultation.

The surgery is usually performed in our specialised procedure room under local anaesthetic often with an anaesthetist and conscious sedation.
